When is the best time to post on TikTok?
The time you decide to post a TikTok can affect the number of likes, views and followers you gain. Of course, you can also just buy TikTok followers, and grow your profile quickly. But it might actually pay off to see what is the best time to post on TikTok. Since several websites indicate different times, we got to the bottom of it for you. These are the best times to post on TikTok!
Why is it important to post at the best times on TikTok?
To grow on TikTok, it’s important that your videos show up on the For You page as much as possible. This page is the collection page of TikTok where most users watch videos. The more often you land on this page, the more likely you are to get many likes, views and new followers. A well-run video on the For You page is also known as “going viral.
To determine whether your videos end up on the For You page, TikTok uses an algorithm. This algorithm looks at various factors such as likes, niche, topic, hashtags and user activity to determine which videos end up on which For You page. Indeed, TikTok’s goal is to keep users on the app as long as possible. By showing as many videos as possible to the user that he or she is interested in, they make sure that they get this done.
Best time to post on TikTok
Influencer Marketing Hub conducted a survey in which they analyzed what the best time to post on TikTok is based on more than 100,000 videos. During this research, they did not focus on one specific niche or sector, but worked with various types of videos. The survey results have EST or Eastern time as the time zone, but for this blog we have converted these results to CET times (Central European Time). This way, you can easily test the times yourself as well.

Before you get started, here’s this!
Before you blindly adopt the above times and do no further research, we still recommend that you read the rest of this text. Although Influencer Marketing Hub’s research with 100,000 videos is reliable, there are other factors at play that can determine your post times.
The times mentioned are generalized
As mentioned earlier, the times were not tested for a specific industry or target audience. This ensures that there may be other times that are much better suited to your videos. For example, if you are dealing with a very young audience, they will not be viewing TikTok’s on your account late at night. The same goes for people with 9-5 jobs, they are less likely to watch TikTok’s during office hours than high school students.
Netherlands versus international
Because the videos posted in the study were in English, the videos were viewed by users worldwide with a focus on the Americas and Asia. So the times mentioned are an average shifted to more populous countries than the Netherlands.
If you decide to post videos in Dutch, and thus only attract viewers from the Netherlands, your ideal post times will be able to differ. In doing so, you should also consider the following:
- With an audience only from the Netherlands, it makes no sense to post videos in the middle of the night. This eliminates the two night times of Friday and Sunday from the schedule.
- In general, it is best for an average Dutch audience to post early in the morning, late afternoon and later in the evening.
- Also consider strategic times, such as 5:30 p.m. when many users just get home from work and scroll on TikTok before dinner and at noon during lunch break.
- As a small channel, it is best not to post videos on holidays in the afternoon or at night. These will be swamped by the larger accounts. Should you really want to post something it is best to do so very early.
As you read, the above times are not the correct posting times for every account. Do your own research well and see what works best for your account, niche and target audience. Want to know how to research this yourself? Then be sure to read on, we will discuss below how to determine the best times to post on TikTok through TikTok Analytics.
Use TikTok Analytics to research the best time to post
TikTok Analytics is a component of TikTok available only to users with a creator account (Pro account). You can easily arrange this within minutes within your settings in the app. Good news; this feature of TikTok is completely free to use. Although this feature doesn’t actually let you know what the right time frame is for all your future videos, you can get some useful information out of it.
Opportunities on TikTok Analytics
Once you have converted your normal profile to a creator account, you can get started with TikTok Analytics. In this section of the app, you will encounter 3 sections:
- The overview: here you will find a handy overview of the growth your profile is making.
- Your content: shows which videos scored best, number of average views and other interaction.
- New followers: see where your followers come from.
Handy tip from us: Under the ‘your content’ section, you can easily see which videos have appeared on the For You page. This way, you can analyze the content and see if you can use certain elements again in new videos. Did the videos on one particular topic go very well? Then create even more content about this.
Where is your audience located?
So in addition to the number of followers, the growth in your account and the gender of your target audience, TikTok Analytics also shows which countries your followers and views come from. Using this data, you can adjust not only the type of content, but also the times you post your content.
Now that you know which audience your videos most attract, it’s time to see what times they are online. Through time zones, you can start puzzling with your post times and try some times.
Days and times with the most activity
TikTok itself has also started to puzzle with the times and days when your followers are active. You can find these under the “new followers” section. This information is specific to your page and current followers. Be careful here, the times given are given in UTC time, which is one hour behind CET time.
Don’t stare blindly at these times either. Just because you post content at times when your current audience is online does not mean that you will easily reach new followers at these times.
Keep your own excel sheet!
TikTok Analytics just unfortunately does not see everything and is quite a cluttered overview with a lot of data. The best advice we can give you is to create a spreadsheet where you keep track of all your data to determine for yourself the best times for you to post videos.
Include the following information:
- The day of upload;
- the time of upload;
- How many views the video has generated after 24 hours;
- The geographical origin of viewers.
This is a bit of work, but this information is worth its weight in gold!
Posting at specific times is just one of the ways to grow on TikTok. Many other factors play into whether your content shows up on the For You page. Want to know how to get more likes on your TikTok account? Then consider buying TikTok likes.
