Free TikTok likes and followers do exist, just not in the way many sites and apps promise them. You get them by making videos people keep watching, and by showing TikTok who your videos are for. This article covers what helps, how to get more views for free, why you are better off avoiding “free followers” apps, and when buying followers or likes does or doesn’t make sense.

- Free followers come from a clear topic, a profile that shows at a glance what you do, and new videos on a regular basis.
- Free likes are mostly won in the first seconds of your video: grab the viewer straight away, and keep the video short and tight.
- Apps and sites offering free followers almost always ask for your password, or make you follow hundreds of accounts yourself. Both are bad for your account.
- Buying followers or likes only raises the number. It can help a new account, but it doesn’t replace good videos.
Why apps for free TikTok likes and followers are a bad idea
Search for free TikTok likes or followers and you will find dozens of sites and apps promising them. Almost all of them work in one of these ways:
- You have to log in with your TikTok details. That hands your account to people you don’t know. They can use it to send messages, follow other accounts or take over your account completely.
- You earn coins by following others. You end up following hundreds of accounts you don’t know, and get followers who follow you for the same reason. They soon drop off again, and your For You feed fills up with videos you’re not interested in.
- You have to install an app or complete a “verification” first. That is often just a way to collect your data or make you watch ads, without any followers ever arriving.
On top of that, TikTok regularly removes followers and likes gathered through services like these. If you still want to try one, never give out your password and never log in to TikTok through another site.
How to get more TikTok followers for free
1. Make it clear straight away what you do
Someone who lands on your profile decides within a few seconds whether to follow you. Choose a name and profile picture that fit your topic, sum up in one sentence in your bio what people can expect from you, and pin your three best videos to the top of your profile.
2. Pick a topic and stick to it
TikTok first shows your videos to a small group of viewers and watches how they respond. If your videos keep covering the same topic, TikTok learns faster who they suit. People are also more likely to follow you when they know more of the same is coming.
3. Post regularly, and short and often beats long and rare

4. Join trends, but in your own way
Trending sounds and formats give your video an extra chance to be found. Check in TikTok itself which sounds are being used a lot right now, and give them a twist that suits your topic. Copying a trend without your own angle rarely wins you followers.
5. Reply to comments, ideally with a video
Answer questions in the comments, and turn a good question into a new video by replying to the comment with a video. That gives you new topics for free, and everyone who comments can see there is a real person behind the account.
6. Team up with other creators
A Duet or Stitch on a video by a creator in the same niche puts you in front of their viewers. Even better: agree to make a video together, so you each reach the other’s followers.
7. Go live
Going live is one of the quickest ways to build a bond with your viewers, and viewers who join the chat are more likely to follow you. Going live and receiving gifts come with age and follower minimums; you will see them in the app as soon as you qualify.
8. Share your videos outside TikTok too
Post your TikToks as Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts as well, or share them in your WhatsApp status. People who already know you there are quicker to follow you on TikTok.
9. Check your analytics to see what works
Your TikTok analytics show for each video how many people watched it to the end and how many followers it brought in. Make more videos like your three best performers, and drop the kind of video that keeps falling behind.
How to get free TikTok likes
Likes follow watch time: a video people watch all the way through gets more likes and is shown more often. What helps:
- A strong first second. Open with the result, a question or something unexpected, not with “hi everyone”.
- Short, tight videos. Cut everything that doesn’t move the story forward. A video that ends where it began often gets watched twice.
- Captions. Lots of people watch with the sound off.
- A reason to comment. Ask a specific question, or let viewers choose between two things. Comments and likes reinforce each other.
- A few relevant hashtags. Three to five hashtags about the topic of the video work better than a long row of general tags.
What about free TikTok views?
Views come from TikTok putting your video in people’s For You feed. How often that happens depends on how the first viewers respond: do they watch to the end, watch it again, share it? So the same tips as for likes help here too. A series also works well (“part 1, part 2”), because viewers then go to your profile themselves to see the rest, and a video you share outside TikTok brings in extra views.
What about buying followers or likes?
You can, and it isn’t against the law for your own account. But be aware of what you get:
- Your follower or like count goes up, and a video or profile with more likes looks more trustworthy to new viewers.

Can I get free TikTok followers without an app?
Yes, and it is also the only safe way: by making your own videos around one topic, posting regularly and responding to your viewers. You don’t need an app or website for that.
Are apps for free TikTok likes safe?
Usually not. Most of them ask for your TikTok password, or make you follow or like lots of accounts yourself. That puts your account at risk, and TikTok may treat your activity as fake.
How many followers do you need to make money on TikTok?
For the Creator Rewards Program, TikTok requires at the time of writing that you are 18 or older, have at least 10,000 followers and have had 100,000 views in the last 30 days, among other things. The programme is not open in every country (at the time of writing not in the Netherlands or Belgium), and the requirements change from time to time; you can see what is open to you in the app under TikTok Studio.
Can TikTok tell that I bought followers?
Bought followers count as normal followers, and you don’t get a notification or label for them. TikTok does watch for unusual activity, such as a very large jump in a short time. More on this in our frequently asked questions.
Why am I losing TikTok followers?
Followers drop off when your videos no longer match why they followed you, for example when you switch topics. TikTok also removes accounts it sees as fake or inactive now and then, so even creators who never bought followers lose some that way.
