To remove a follower on TikTok, open your followers list, tap the three dots next to someone and choose Remove this follower. On Instagram, tap the cross next to someone in your followers list and then Remove. How to remove followers on TikTok
- Go to your Profile and tap Followers.
- Find the follower in the list.
- Tap the three dots (more actions) next to that follower.
- Choose Remove this follower.
You can also do it from that person’s profile: tap Share at the top and choose Remove this follower. Button names sometimes differ slightly between versions of the app.
If your account is public, the removed follower can simply follow you again. With a private account, they first have to send a new follow request, which you can decline. According to TikTok, a removed follower also no longer sees your videos in their Following feed.
Can you remove new followers on TikTok?
Yes, in the same way: they are at the top of your followers list. If you want to choose who follows you, make your account private. Then everyone has to send a follow request first, and you only approve the people you want.
Can you remove all your TikTok followers at once?
No. TikTok has no button to remove many followers at once; you do it one by one. You can, however, block several accounts at once from the comments under a video, by managing multiple comments and then blocking the accounts. Useful when a group of spam accounts keeps commenting on your videos.
Apps that promise to remove all your followers at once work with your login details or automated scripts. TikTok bans automation tools like that in its guidelines, and your account can be restricted or removed because of it.
Seeing your TikTok followers
You see your own followers on your profile under Followers. With a public account, anyone can see your followers and the accounts you follow; with a private account, only the people you have approved. TikTok doesn’t show who unfollowed you.
How to remove followers on Instagram
- Go to your profile and tap Followers.
- Find the account, or scroll through the list.
- Tap the cross next to the account.
- Tap Remove.
This works with a public and a private account. Instagram doesn’t notify the other person. With a public account, they can follow you again afterwards; with a private account, they first have to send a new follow request.
Removing spam followers in one go
If Instagram has recognised followers as possible spam, you will see a separate category for them in your followers list, with an option to remove all spam followers at once. Public accounts can also have a list of followers flagged for review, with a button to remove them all; that isn’t available to everyone yet. These accounts aren’t notified.
For ordinary followers there is no button to remove many at once. If you are going to remove a lot of followers by hand, spread it over a few days: Instagram can temporarily limit your activity if you do a very large number of actions in a short time. Instagram doesn’t publish an official maximum per hour or per day.
You can’t see who unfollowed you
Instagram doesn’t tell you who unfollows you, and there is no feature to see it. Apps that promise to often ask for your password. Instagram itself warns against this: such apps can gain complete access to your account, and your account can be restricted or disabled. So never give your login details to an app you don’t trust.

If you want someone to be unable to follow you at all, block them. If you just want some peace without it being noticed, restricting on Instagram is the gentlest option.
Why your follower count sometimes drops by itself
Instagram and TikTok regularly clean out fake and inactive accounts themselves. According to its own report, TikTok removed more than 6 billion fake followers and 86 million fake accounts in the first quarter of 2026. Instagram says it routinely removes disabled accounts, which can change your follower count. If you see a drop without having done anything yourself, that is usually the cause.
What about bought followers?
You remove bought followers the same way. Our standard followers are real-looking, high-quality profiles, not active people: they count towards your total but don’t like or comment, so they lower your engagement rate. On Instagram they don’t get a notification. They can notice it if they visit your profile and see they no longer follow you, or if they can no longer see your posts on a private account.
