How does the calculator work?
The ranges come from 2025 and 2026 studies by Modash, HypeAuditor, Socialinsider and others, per platform and per account size. Between two sizes the calculator moves gradually, so the result does not jump when you just cross a border.
Your own engagement rate is your likes plus comments, divided by your number of followers, times 100. For TikTok we compare your views with your followers, and for YouTube we count likes and comments per view, as the studies do.
These are averages. Your niche, your country and the type of post make a big difference, and a post that goes viral will simply land above them. The formulas, worked examples and figures per platform are in how to calculate engagement rate and what’s normal.

Is the calculator free?
Yes. You do not need an account and you do not have to log in anywhere. The calculation happens in your own browser: the numbers you enter are not sent to us and not stored.
What is a good engagement rate?
That depends on your platform and your number of followers: the bigger the account, the lower the percentage usually is. Pick your platform in the calculator and slide to your number of followers to see the normal range. If your own rate is within it or above it, you are doing well for your size.
Why is my engagement rate lower than normal?
Common causes are followers who are no longer active, posts that match less well with why people follow you, and long breaks between your posts.
Do bought followers count in my engagement rate?
Yes. Bought followers count in your number of followers, but they do not like or comment. If you buy a lot of followers while your likes stay the same, your engagement rate drops. If you buy likes on a post, it goes up for that post. So grow in steps that suit your account.
